Visitor Visa - This visa is designed for individuals who wish to enter Australia for a temporary stay for tourism purposes or visit family and friends with no intention of working or becoming a resident in the country. The duration of this visa is valid for 3 months up to 12 months.  Visit the IMMI website or contact our Registered Migration Agent for more information.

There are several visitor visa subclasses. The first one is:

This temporary visa is valid for up to 12 months. You need to be in Australia when you apply for this visa to extend the holder’s stay.

  • Tourist stream (apply outside Australia) - This visa stream lets a holder visit Australia as a tourist to go on a cruise or to see family and friends. Valid for 3 months, 6 months, or up to 12 months, this visa should be applied outside of Australia.

  • Sponsored family stream – This visa stream lets a holder who is sponsored, usually a family member, come to Australia to visit family members. This is valid for up to 12 months. The applicant must be sponsored by an eligible family member who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident. As part of the requirements, the sponsor may be required to pay a security bond. The applicant should be outside of Australia when applying for this visa.

  • Business visitor stream – This visa allows the holder to enter Australia for business reasons for up to 3 months. However, the holder is not allowed to work or sell goods and services.

  • Approved Destination Status stream – This visa stream is for citizens from certain areas of China visiting Australia on a tour organised by an approved travel agent. The duration of this visa is for the period or until the date that the immigration will specify in your grant letter. This visa lets citizens of the People’s Republic of China (excluding SARs) visit Australia with an organised tour group and the holder must remain with the organized tour group.

  • Frequent traveler stream – This visa stream is for citizens of the People’s Republic of China who travel often to Australia for business or personal reasons. This can be valid for up to 10 years but capped at a maximum of 3 months per entry. To qualify for this visa, you must hold a passport from the People’s Republic of China, SARs excluded, and the applicant must provide biometrics within the People’s Republic of China before application.
