There are different subclasses for working and skilled visas. Visit the IMMI website or contact our Registered Migration Agent for more information. The most common one is a Temporary Graduate visa also known as subclass 485. This temporary visa allows international students to live, study, and work after they have finished their studies. To qualify, you must be under 50 years of age, hold an eligible visa, have held a student visa in the last 6 months, have recent qualifications in a CRICOS-registered course, nominate one stream only, and attach specified evidence when you apply for this visa. Here are the different streams for subclass 485:
-
Graduate Work Stream – This visa is for an international student who has recently graduated with qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations Australia needs. It will let the student live, study, and work in Australia temporarily. The visa holders may stay in Australia for up to 18 months and may also bring family with them.
-
Post-Study Work Stream – This visa is for an international student who has recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution. It will allow the visa holder to live, work, and study in Australia temporarily. The visa holder will be allowed to stay in Australia between 2 and 4 years depending on the qualifications. -
Second Post-Study Work Stream – This visa is for holders of Temporary Graduate visa (first Post-Study Work stream or Replacement stream) who graduated with a degree from an Australian institution located in a regional area. It will allow the holder to live, work, and study in Australia temporarily with their family. The duration of this visa is between 1 and 4 years depending on the regional location of the educational institution where the student graduated from that led to the grant of the first Temporary Graduate visa in the post-study work stream.
